Barkat Rice Mills is a Limited Company incorporated in the year 1999 under Pakistan Companies Ordinance 1984.

The Management at FSL Group envisioned a company that could deliver pure, hygienic and delectable Basmati to consumers around the globe at competitive rates. The emphasis was on developing high class - premium products in-line with expectations of quality conscious customers.

To provide quality rice to the customers the company leaves no area unattended. For that the company interacts with farmers from seedling to harvesting stage. Barkat Rice even supplies seed to the farmers free of cost to guarantee pure, healthy and top grade paddy. To ensure that basmati rice retains all that nature has given it, the company has installed a very sophisticated state of the art plant at their mill from Buhler GmbH (German and Swiss machinery) 5 ton/hour capacity.

The Management strongly believes in the key role of technology in producing hygienic and good quality product on consistent basis. This was the main drive behind management's decision to invest substantially at its plants in Islamabad and Gujrat. Barkat Rice Mills has taken up the role of technology leader in the region. Highly trained and skillful professionals of the industry were hired to ensure the best use of technology.

The complete plant of cargo rice processing was purchased from the world renowned Buhler GmbH and installed at Islamabad, to maximize productivity while achieving consistent high quality finished rice in the most cost effective way (a greater Return on Investment). The plant has machines of German and Swiss make. Basmati rice is a delicate grain. It is long, slender and fragile. The equipment ensures that the valuable Basmati Rice is gently treated/ processed and product breakage is minimized. Performance of these machines is ranked as the best in the world. With an annual capacity of 40,000 tons (5 tons/hr.) the plant performs with remarkable fineness and accuracy that others find hard to match.

FSL Group's association with Buhler extends back to 1964 when the group established its first food processing unit — a Flour Mill. The reliability of Buhler made it the first choice when the group decided to venture into rice business as well.

Buhler provided assistance from layout design to engineering, installation and commissioning. Highly qualified and experienced engineers were deputed by machinery suppliers, who not only commissioned the plant but also trained the BRM's staff to operate the mill efficiently and to tackle any unforeseen problems on their own.

Husking plant at Gujrat has machines manufactured by SATAKE of Japan and has been performing extremely efficiently since commissioning. High level of automation enables to meet the most rigorous quality standards and boosts efficiency which helps to cut costs for which customer gets benefit in the final price. Buhler GmbH and Satake are authentic names in food processing industry.

These machines are not only maintained in fit condition, but also regularly upgraded to incorporate gains made in technology. BRM aims to consolidate its position as a technology leader by employing technology of future.

The company has successfully extended its exports to more than thirty countries in the world within a short span of one decade.
